Update from Pastor Jeremy – November 25, 2022

More Info

Hello, everybody. This is Pastor Jeremy with a quick video message for you.

Hopefully you enjoyed this past week’s message on “Jesus, the Great Questioner.” As we closed off that series, we looked at the question that Jesus proposes when He’s walking with His disciples and He asks, “well who do people say that I am?” And you know, everybody starts to describe, because it’s a general question, they’re like “this is what I’m hearing”, and “this is what I’m seeing”. Then He stops and He asks them the question, well, “who do you say that I am?” This is a real personal question about how we see Christ, who is Christ to us. And this is where it changes, when you answer that question. Because when you say, well “who do people say that I am?” well, you know, they’re just asking for what they’re hearing. But when you answer the question, “who do you say Jesus is?” now there is a way that you are called to live after that. If He is the Messiah, how is that reflected in your life? If He is a great teacher, then how are you being a student of Jesus? If He is Saviour, how are you living a life that shows that you’ve been saved by Christ? And so, you can click on the link below in this email to watch that last sermon.

It is officially the Christmas season and this Sunday we’ll be kicking off Advent. We will have some scripture reading that will be taking place. Also, we will be looking at the topic of “hope”.

And we have lots of things happening at Creekside and in our network throughout the Christmas season. First off, Living Nativity. We would love for you to sign up to help or sign up to make sure you get your tickets to come. And so that is December 9, 10th and 11th. There’s many areas where you can help out with and there’s still tickets available. But you know, I think it’s going to go out publicly and probably will start going pretty quick so hurry up and pick your tickets out.

At Creekside we will be having, on December 18th, we will be having “A Creekside Christmas Carol.” And I talked about this last week, we’re going to have from 4:30 to 5:30 pm some on-site caroling and some off-site caroling for those who like to, you know, dress up in the traditional English garb and go door-to-door and, you know, sing Christmas carols to people. Then we’re going to, for those who don’t feel like being outside or in the cold of if they don’t know if they can stay out that long, we’re going to have some gingerbread making happening inside. So that’s from 4:30 to 5:30 pm. You can sign up on this registration link, attached this email, so we know how many people are coming. Then from 5:30 to 6:30 we’re having our Soup Sunday. So it’s a little bit later. I know it’s usually after service, but it’s going to be at 5:30 We can come in, warm up, have soup but also a potluck on the side there too. There will be a sign-up to bring a soup, or not soup, a salad, a side or a sweet for the potluck. So this is a big church family celebration. We’re going to invite people from the community to come carol with us, we’re going to go out into the community to go carol and we’re going to invite people to come even make some gingerbread. So sign up below.

I don’t think I have anything else. I’m looking at this note which is straight ahead of me and I think I crushed all of it. So I’ll say the last thing. We are raising support to sponsor one student at the English House for their family to have Christmas. There are 30 students at the English House currently and we’re looking at $30 per student. And so I encourage you this Sunday, we’re going to start raising money for that. There’ll be a little container at the Communications Desk for you to drop in a cheque for $30. This is a great way for us to reach globally out to those who are in need.

So that’s it. I’m done. See you on Sunday.
