Hey Willow Park Church South family. Just a couple of minutes to say hello, whether you’re watching this on social media or as part of the email. We’re so glad that you’re taking this time.

It’s a really special time in the South family’s history. We’re settling back into the location of the school, very grateful for it. Had some lovely Sundays and really been jumping into how do we live out the practices that we’ve been given an example of in the New Testament, these ancient paths and how they bring rest to our souls.

And last weekend we jumped into really, what is the first practice, arguably the most important practice that Jesus showed us over and over in the gospels, which is to withdraw into a quiet, sometimes desolate place, to be in silence, to pray, to contemplate. And all the other practices are built on top of this. And I gave some some real world examples from history all the way back to 633 A.D. And looking at monks and it was just so good to see how much we, actually rely on from the past. To see how other people have put these practices into their lives and seen dramatic changes, not only to them spiritually but also to community that they are part of.

One of the ways came from a gentleman called Ignatius, Saint Ignatius, and he had extensive writing about spiritual devotion. And one of them, and there is some discussion over how you actually say this, whether it be a daily examen or daily examen or daily whatever you want to call it, these kind of five step processes. And I want to encourage you and remind you, if you are on social media on Instagram, at @wpsouth on Instagram you can actually get a list of this daily examen to do in your own quiet time. It’s a process of rejoicing, of reflection. Actually start off just remembering that God is near and refocusing on that and they all begin with “R”. And then there’s the rejoicing for all the good things that God has given us, reviewing the day, looking to see where we were distracted or maybe where we were drawn away. Then we repent and ask for forgiveness for the sins that the Lord will point out to us and then eventually we make our requests.

So I really encourage you, especially as we come to WillowONE Prayer this Sunday evening, to come to the South and hear the next practice that we’re going to practice together as a church. But also really encourage you to check out Instagram, get the daily examen, process and start using it, whether it be as individuals, as families or as couples. It just has a wonderful wonderful moments to be with Jesus every day. So I wanted to leave that with you.

Please, see you on Sunday. It was great to see everybody coming out and settling back into kind of the rhythm. So grateful for all the volunteers. If you want to get involved, then please let Jenny or Nick know. They would be happy to help you in that respect. And then we’ll see you at WillowONE Prayer. So have a fantastic rest of the week. God bless you and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Take care.
