Poison
- Marissa Price

It was a strange moment when a smart and smooth-looking businessman stared at me and confessed that he did not like me when he first met me. In fact, from the first time he heard me speak, he instantly disliked me and responded negatively each time he saw me. Seemed a little harsh, it’s not…

The Trek
- Admin User

Summer is the time for camping and adventures. Over the years, I have embarked on numerous hiking adventures. From the West Coast Trail three years ago, then last year the High Rim Trail. This summer, I decided to walk the 42km circuit of the Okanagan Mountain Park.  These epic trails never fail to teach me…

Get Your Head in the Game
- Marissa Price

I was on the golf course with my rival, frantically fighting to keep my score. His cheeky, smug face was continually distracting me as he moved casually around at every tee box. My game had become erratic, my divots and unintentional slicing, scarring the turf. I knew this game could only be won if I…

Knowing
- Marissa Price

Kelowna’s Memorial Park Cemetery is a beautiful spot, sitting next to the Golf Course. The two seem to blend effortlessly into each other with perfectly placed shrubs and trees, and mischievous deer gazing and grazing. A sacred place of memories. To stroll curiously around graveyards is a fascinating voyage into lives and histories. Scanning the…

As a Pastor,…

Humankind’s first culture is horticulture
-

With this new life online, I am doing my fair share of shepherding Zoom gatherings. I always enjoy hearing how people are feeling. These times are often surprisingly emotional, following connection after weeks of separation. They tell stores of juggling life in the pandemic. What I have observed in my onscreen meetings is that there…

The Power of Grief
-

In church ministry, I am acquainted with the power of grief. Not only do I spend my time with those who experience deep loss. I have been metaphorically ambushed by the strong emotions of grief and left struggling to stand up again. Whether a loss of a mother or a grandfather, we all know that…

It is solved by walking
-

Something beautiful is happening all around us, in the middle of the discomfort of the pandemic. People are walking. We are smiling and nodding at each other from a distance as city pathways fill with new pilgrims. My children are taking the initiative to embark on walks. In the past, wild horses could not get…

Forgiveness Brings Healing
-

It was a massive surprise for my wife and me when the sonographer turned the TV screen and announced, you are having twins. It was like winning the lottery, well, kind of. My twins are now amazing young women with their careers. I collect stories about twins. This story comes from before the Great War,…
