Marilyn Peters
Director of Worship Arts
My name is Marilyn Peters and I've been part of the Willow Park congregation for many years - some would say forever. I had always served in the music ministry of any church we were part of, however, in 2002 I joined the staff team.
Seven years into working at WP my role was changed to Director of Worship Arts, and I still believe I'm in the right place. I love Willow Park and I love my job. It can be hard work and long hours, but when you're working within your God-given giftings, it's so rewarding. We have so many wonderful, gifted musicians who are part of the WP musical family and they are a real joy to work with.
Life experience has taught me to keep priorities in balance and "not go overboard", but I've tried to stay true to my parents' philosophy of serving God first and foremost. I learned that at age 13 when I started playing piano at church, and I still love being part of worship in the church. I will often watch from the balcony as the service closes and nothing is more rewarding than seeing groups gathering together in prayer. Then I know our prayers and plans for the services have opened hearts to the truths of God. That's our ultimate goal. That's what it's all about.
When my husband, Al, is not on the road, he also serves Willow Park as an usher. Our children, Melissa (married to Grant), Graeme (married to Grace) and Ryan, a musician living in Vancouver, and six grandchildren are a source of great joy and so much fun!
