Key Passage: Mark 5:21-43

I am pretty sure by this point of the summer, you have taken one Road Trip or another. And if you have ever taken one of those road trips with my father-in-law, it would be filled with Cheezies, quartet music and an excruciating desire for him to reach the speed limit at some point on the trip. And if your trips are in anyway similar to mine, I am fairly confident something came up on said trip that you weren’t expecting. Like I don’t know, (this never happens to our family) kids assaulting each other, Alberta drivers, bladders on the verge of exploding, fish and chips that were just a little too fishy, mosquitoes the size of Texas and one too many Katy Perry songs on the radio. Oh, the memories. I am sure we could share stories for hours.

What I am not so sure of, is whether or not we could sit around for hours and share stories of our trips with Jesus. It’s just that I don’t hear a lot of “You will never believe what happened with me and Jesus this summer” kind of stories.

Maybe it just seems weird talking that way or maybe you have Jesus in your life but it’s tough knowing when to bring up the topic, or maybe you and Jesus are like so going in the opposite direction. Or maybe a Road Trip with Jesus is long overdue and you know it.

Whatever your head space, whatever your journey, whatever your fears, whatever your obstacles... take the trip. The memories will last a lifetime. “Don’t be afraid; just believe.”
