Greetings from North India!
Sep 01, 2008
Our VBS team of 8 young adults and one not so young adult (me) are experiencing the richness of God’s love for His children at Dar Ul Fazl- House of Grace; in Manali, and Shanti Niketan- House of Peace; in Subathu, both in the state of Himachel Pradesh.
Our team is learning total dependency on Christ as we move into week four of our trip here, and He is so good, so faithful. We’ve learned that we cannot operate by our own power, but only by the grace of God working in us and through us.
We’ve been blessed with these two families opening up their hearts and their homes to us, surely blessing us every way and every day, just as we strive and hope to bless them.
Our days are spent in teaching bible stories, games, crafts, loving the children and the staff of the homes as best we can. We’ve come to teach, and indeed we have taught, yet we have learned so much as well; about acceptance, about grace, and thankfulness, joy, love, peace, hope, kindness.
The fruits of the spirit are in abundance at the homes. Each home has its own personality, its own quirks, its own issues. What the homes share is a love for Jesus, and a desire to see Jesus known throughout India. The staff know this- the children know this. They talk it, and most importantly, walk it- day in and day out.
We’re all so excited to be part of our new partnership with the homes through Child of Mine. The families of both homes are excited to know what our Lord is doing; knowing that he has a plan for them. Plans for hope and a future. He is our God, we are His people. One body. One church. One God.
Thank you Willow Park for your prayers. We need them. Know this. They work. Keep praying.
With love from the VBS team,
Heather, Jennika-Rae, Brittany, Jenn, Anders, Alisa, Vanessa, Mike, and Brad
