Crandall Family Update - Nov. 2011
Nov 14, 2011
Hello Friends!
Greetings from The Crandall Five.
It has been just over 3 weeks since we arrived here in Georgetown Penang Malaysia to complete our 2 month outreach with YWAM. After 9 months in Abbotsford, the passing of my Mom in June and the birth of our nephew in July it was with mixed feelings that we closed that chapter and opened the next.
We have had a chance to settle in and become more familiar with day to day life and the YWAM ministries that we are involved with here.
Twice a week we are serving at the Kawan Centre, a facility designed to provide care for the homeless community within the area. We serve a light breakfast, help with lunch preparation, join in their bible study, serve lunch and assist with clean up. There are shower and laundry facilities for the homeless community to use, free clothing to acquire as well as links to other resources within the community (i.e. drug rehab …). Wednesday evenings Stacy and I have taken turns to be involved with evening ministry in the red-light district of this city.
Stacy is assisting the YWAM base with general maintenance and some business tools twice a week while the girls and I are at the Kawan thrift store. The girls and I steam/iron clothing, merchandise the store and set up the window displays. (Chloe especially likes trying on garments that she thinks she should add to her wardrobe - she is her Nana's grand-daughter)!!
We are also at The Door Of Hope - an evening program designed to assist young children with learning English as well as providing a safe place of childcare to the lower-class Chinese community. We have created skits, sang songs, told bible stories, played games all while helping the children practise their English skills. Brielle and Aliya are getting lots of experience as "teachers".
We have participated in prayer and worship at Penang House Of Prayer (PEN HOP) and have attended and shared our testimony at a local church, Grace Sanctuary. Stacy has been asked to preach this coming Sunday at church and again that evening to a group of Nepali migrant workers.
We have dealt with illness for the first couple of weeks … cough and cold for Stacy, myself and Brielle. We thank you for your prayers for our health and the ability to be effective in the ministry areas that we are involved with.
which has pics and more posts listed.
Also, if you haven't already, feel free to find us as friends on Facebook.
Many Blessings,
Christie (for the Crandall Five) ~ x
