A Psalm on Listening
Aug 16, 2009
My voice is speaking of:
all I can do, all I can read,
All I can buy and what I accomplish.
My voice speaks of:
self awareness, beauty tips, fashion tips and more.
My voice speaks of:
Striving for fulfillment, reaching for the stars,
Climbing up ladders…
Yet-
My voice is questioning
What can I do, how can I do all things
that is expected of me?
My voice cries out and in silence I stare.
A new voice is heard in the still of my heart
A new voice says to me
“Come unto me – listen—
Listen to what I have to say.
You were made a whole being
Your needs will be provided
You don’t need to worry or be discontented
The roads blocks and trials will strengthen our bonds.
We’ll walk hand in hand, You need not be alone”
My voice was quiet and with a smile on my face
I accepted the offer to ‘come unto me’
My voice is now stronger
I’m full of great faith and
I need not be concerned with myself.
My arms opened up, my steps more secure
My thoughts are spread out to
Those who are near
I see your creation, I feel so confirmed.
The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not be afraid.
