Willow Park Church

Dear Willow Park Church family,

What a great, committed, and passionate church family we have. As reported in a previous letter because of all the challenges we have faced over the last couple of years from a ministry and budget standpoint the elders recommended WPC help launch the Abbey Community on its own. This was a difficult recommendation and one put forward with many mixed emotions.

Now for the awesome news.

The church leadership is pleased to let everyone know that on June 27th, the WPC membership voted to table this recommendation for six months. The membership meeting was exciting as folks spoke up with passion, faith and heart for our vision of reaching 10% of our city and region. People stepped up to the challenge and committed that for this vision to happen it will take a network of diverse church sites.

It was thrilling to see at a time when the direction of our culture is about cutting back we as a church community are bucking the trend and stepping up with our resources and faith.
 
The challenge over the next six months is bigger than the Abbey recommendation. It is about all of us rising to what Jesus is calling us to as His followers. We will be stretched, get dirty, make mistakes and fall on our knees in dependence. Most of all it will be wonderful as we work to clear a path for many to experience Jesus and His Kingdom. 

When we read the scriptures we see God moves in powerful during times of tension. This is a difficult time but as we move forward with all we have God can do things that are so beyond us. At the membership meeting it was like we began a new journey to travel to the edge of this tension and expect God to work in a beautiful way. Thanks for being such a great church family.
