Metro & South Community Update
Jan 22, 2011
Dear Willow Park Church,
I wanted to take this opportunity to bring you up to date concerning a number of changes and appointments across our church family.
First of all, I'm delighted to inform you that I, under the recommendation of the Willow Park South search committee, steering group and with the agreement of the members of Willow Park South, have appointed Glen Madden as the South Community Pastor. Over the last 8 weeks he has preached extensively in the South, truly capturing the heart of the community. Glen Madden works as a Pastor at Kelowna Christian School and is a well known speaker who has traveled extensively across Canada. He will Pastor our South Community on a part time basis. Sarah, Glen and their four children are excited about the future and believe God has called them to serve in this way. Please pray for the family and Willow Park South as they settle into the community.
As of the 1st of January, Metro became an independent church under Church Planting BC (the church planting arm of our MB Conference.) This enables the team at Metro to secure other income streams and also receive the support from Church Planting BC. Willow Park Church continues to support Metro and the wonderful ministry to those who are marginalised in our City.
Pastor Laurie will still be working in partnership with Willow Park Church, maintaining our ongoing link with India and coordinating the mission work of the church for 25% of the time. Mission is such a significant part of our church and I look forward to working with Pastor Laurie in equipping the church both locally and globally.
Please join us as we celebrate and commission both Pastor Glen Madden and Metro at Church@33 on Saturday January 29th at 6 p.m. We will be praying for and celebrating the story of Metro, and inducting Pastor Glen. We have much to thank God for; the way He has developed such a wonderful ministry as Metro growing out of Willow Park Church and the provision of a Pastor for Willow Park South. Come and join us.
We will also be praying for Glen and Sarah on Sunday morning, January 30th at South Community at 10 a.m. We'll celebrate with a community meal, so if you live in the Mission or have a heart for that community this is a great time to connect in - we hope to see you there.
Finally, please join us in the Church@33 gymnasium on Sunday evening, January 30th at 5 p.m. for a Worship & Prayer Concert, followed by a Membership Meeting at 6 p.m. (There will be no budget meeting before the membership meeting). Agenda items include updates on the Abbey, South, and Metro, and a Financial update.
Let's keep praying for our church and believing for great things.
Every Blessing,
Pastor Phil Collins
Senior Leader, Willow Park Church
